Ezmerelda the Fortune Teller

Ezmerelda the Fortune Teller

Ready for your fortune to be told?  This mystic lady would love you to sit down to learn of your Fate.  Gaze into the Crystal Ball...  Have your cards read...  Read your palm...  All in good fun.

When I was a girl of about 11, Halloween was still so much fun.  That year all the neighborhood "kids" said there is a very special house you have to see.   I was told a "rich" banker and his wife lived in this house.  Well of course, we were all curious.

So after getting directions we walked for what I thought was about a mile to their house.  It turned out to be a totally magical experience.

The "banker" was dressed as a Pirate with a peg leg.  He really looked authentic!  At least in my mind.  Like a true Pirate in story books.  The scene around him was set with so many props, misty air, music, lights.  A stunning seaside backdrop.  But for us kids the real magic was that he had a large Treasure Chest, filled with coins.  Real coins (current money of course).  He gave you a special cup and you could take one scoop of money from his Treasure Chest.  We did this and "dumped" the coins in our Trick-or-Treat bags.  Wow oh wow, I had never seen anything like this.  Next....

You were then sent over to a large tent, a striped tent, that to my imagination looked like one you would find in the Sahara Desert.  This tent was also filled with magical props and lit with lanterns and beautiful rugs.  Inside was his wife dressed as a Fortune Teller.  She had a glorious colorful jeweled costume.  Dangling necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings,  She had some magical gazing ball and looked at your palm and gave you a wonderful fortune.  I think everyone's fortune was pretty much alike.

I will never forget this wonderful magical night.  We never could find this house again, even though we tried year after year.  We always got turned around trying to find it.

So as soon as I saw this lovely lady Fortune Teller doll (I found her at an Open House at my favorite Pharmacy/ Gift Store).  My happy magical memories came flooding back and I had (wanted) to purchase her and I did.

                                           Jeweled Earrings

Rings on fingers, bells on toes, nails manicured.

                                    Even a jeweled hat pin.

                                           Destiny to be told

This is a before photo of the table and chair.  Purchased at Target a long time ago.  It came with 4 chairs.

Thanks for looking.  Feel free to leave a comment.  I read and enjoy and appreciate every one.

I will be posting this on Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch.

Keep in mind this Halloween post is all in good fun and in no way represents my personal beliefs.

Wonderful story telling! Your fortune teller is perfect. I love her manicured nails - they look wicked with black nail polish! I do believe the banker and his wife had a very special house indeed!

For years I've playfully named the housekeeper I'd like to have one day Ezmerelda. Didn't know she was a fortune teller!
