Candlelight Supper: MAY DAY TABLESCAPE

May Day Tablescape

Hoping you will have a most glorious May.  When I was young and in Elementary school we always made a May Basket to take home.

We would make a cone shape out of paper and line it with wax paper and paper towel to keep the flower stems moist.  Sometimes we would decorate a soup can and punch a couple of holes and use a pipe cleaner handle

We were told to secretly hang it on someone's door and run away, so it would be a secret.  Some of us hung it on a secret admirer's door or on our own home.

My tablescape today is full of flowers.  Some Tussie Mussie's.  A terrarium with flowers and an adorable jeweled bird and some floral & bird plates.  The ribbons hanging from the chandelier make me think of May Pole ribbons.

If you click on the photo it will enlarge for a better view.

My bird done in fabric French script.  Loaded with rhinestone bling and a bling crown.  I found this at my favorite Drug store's summer sidewalk sale.

My cute little individual bird butter keepers.

I collect Tussie Mussie holders.  I have used 4 different      styles for this tablescape.

I will be posting this tablescape on Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday.
I'm participating in Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps On The Porch.

Thanks for looking.  Please leave a comment if so inclined.....

I love love love the birds, especially the blue bird. Placing them on the flowered plate makes them look as if they singing in a garden.

I cannot believe that May Day is so close! Honestly, I wish it would become fashionable to celebrate holidays two months afterwards. I think this would give me enough time to plan. Your table is lovely. I particularly like those bird plates (I love shaped plates!), and those butter keepers! I want some of those!

Valerie, This is just precious. I love the bejeweled bird in the terrarium and the sweet bird salad plates on the lovely floral dinner plates. The Tussie Mussie's add a charming old fashioned touch to each place setting. The pink glasses (milk glass?) and the pink flatware are just perfect with the delicate pink placemats and the lacy edges of the chargers. Lovely, just lovely.

I know that Spring is here when the birds start waking me up at four in the morning chirping happily as they build the nests (usually in the tree beneath my bedroom window) that will be the home of their baby birds in a few short weeks. Luckily it has been to cold to open the windows and hear them (it snowed here again today).

Hi Valerie,

How sweet. I really enjoyed your tablescape and, of course, learned something new. I never heard of a tussie mussie before and looked it up. The following article really was fascinating:
Thank you for introducing me to something really sweet. It really makes the setting especially old fashion and enduring.

Dear Valerie I m in love with any and all tablescapes. Yours are so lovely. You really come up with beautiful dishes, tableware. I have quite a few Tussie Mussie holders. I use them on one of my Christmas trees. I have a hard time locating them to collect. I was wanting to know where you found yours. I know when I ask for them most people don't know what I'm talking about. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks and kept doing what you do.

Such a pretty table. Did you read my introduction to the Celebrate Your Story Link Party this week...I was remembering those May Day flower gifts, too. I love your Tussie Mussie holders, they make such a lovely addition to your pretty floral table! Thanks so much for sharing over at Celebrate and Decorate!
